Body, performance, narrative, and simulation; Alex Carmen's newest collection of work serves to investigate how systems of power manipulate reality by controlling the relationship between body and mind. In Trees With Holes in Them, Carmen wields the airbrush as a lampoon, piercing together familiar physical and digital symbols to illustrate the precarious and impervious nature of the hyperreality we live through—- exposing their daily collapse and dicey rebuild.
